Neighbors have been asking for a better way to share with smaller, trusted circles inside Treasure It. Today, we’re rolling out Groups so you can coordinate with your community in a way that is flexible, local, and safer by default.
Whether you run a building swap group, a school parent group, or a neighborhood interest circle, Groups makes it easier to post, discover, and moderate together.
What You Can Do with Groups
Groups support:
- Public and private group types
- A super admin owner role, with optional admins
- Invite flows for friends
- Request-to-join flows for discoverable groups
- Invite-code joins for private groups
Every group has a title and a clear membership model so expectations are obvious to everyone who joins.
Public vs Private Group Experience
Group privacy is chosen at creation time:
- Public groups are visible and request-to-join
- Private groups can be invite-only (non-discoverable) or discoverable with request-to-join
This gives organizers control over how open or curated a group should be, without changing privacy settings later and surprising members.
Posting in Groups
You can now share gifts to groups while still controlling visibility:
- Group-shared posts are public by default
- You can mark a group post as private (group-only)
- Group-only posts stay out of public feeds and public search
For pricing rules:
- Priced items are allowed only in private groups
- Any gift with priced items must be private (group-only)
This keeps public surfaces focused on free local sharing while letting private groups coordinate more specific exchanges.
Safer Address Handling for Group Pickups
For pickups involving group recipients, addresses are not auto-shared.
Recipients request the address, and gifters can approve or deny that request. This adds a clear consent step and improves privacy in group contexts where members may not know each other well yet.
Moderation and Admin Controls
Groups include stronger trust and safety tools:
- Admins can remove members
- Admins can block members from rejoining
- Role ownership stays explicit with one super admin
- Staff can step in for emergencies and moderation escalations
We also track invite, approval, and block actions to support moderation decisions when issues come up.
